NEW: Fall 2016 Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP): We are starting a VIP project around UAS applications and security. The goal is to combined design projects (EE296/396/496) into an integrated project with more detailed mentoring, deeper technical skill development, and focused experience.

NEW: Aug. 2016 Principal Investigator, NSF Service for Scholarship (SFS) Program at UHM. Qualified Students please see the UHM NSF SFS web site. We have $190K to support three students starting 2016 Fall. More scholarships (about 48 student-years) are coming for the next five years.

Principal of National Center of Academic Excellence in Research (CAE-R) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM), since 2015

General research areas: computer systems and networks, distributed systems and applications, and advanced computer architecture.

Current research areas: computer and network security and user privacy, including anonymous communications and data sharing, security and privacy in cloud systems and applications, unmanned aerial system (UAS) security, IoT security, real-time networks and security, smart grid security, and other security and privacy issues in distributed systems. Past research projects were on Quality of Service, multimedia streaming and content distribution, cable broadband networks, etc.

Financial assistantship now is available for motivated PhD students for computer network and security projects. Please send me your resume and related statements or doc.
