IP Protection via Loop Free Alternate on a WDM Ring

IP Fast Reroute (IPFRR) has been proposed as a modification of IP routing to support fast protection switching.  In this talk we will present one of IPFRR scheme called loop free alternate (LFA).  We will review the current work on this scheme, including our own recent work which focuses on how IP traffic can be protected using a combination of optical protection at Layers 1 and 2 and IPFRR LFA mechanisms at Layer 3.
